33-26 Ride Day 5

We rolled out of Casino under grey sky and the threat of rain as we continued north toward the Queensland border. The rain never came and before we knew it we were climbing through the Border Ranges National Park and crossed into Sunny Queensland. Although I spent a lot of my life riding in the Gold Coast hinterland I had never been to these parts and I was really surprised to find some really great riding I had missed out on during all those years. The descent from the border into Rathdowney was possibly the highlight of the whole ride so far and definitely a place I plan to return to ride my bike more in the future.

After a lunch stop in Rathdowney we continued along some flatter roads to Boonah before gunning the last 40km to Ipswich under the threat of ominous skies. We didn’t want to a repeat of yesterday dodging lightning bolts! When we pulled into our hotel we had logged another big day of 6 hours 40 minutes, 191km and 2,020m of total ascent.
Keep flowing the journey and help us change live in Cambodia.
