In partnership with Quarq, TrainingPeaks is proud to present Luke’s race files and analysis from Kona.
In 2012, McKenzie’s power data implied that he went out too hard in the beginning, with power fading in the second half. This year, he built his effort and his ability to stay in the lead throughout the bike and run shows the smart pacing. Through the first 56 miles he averaged 277 watts. On the return he put out 285 watts. Overall, McKenzie was able to average 281 watts -16 more than he did in 2012. That equates to an impressive 3.87 watts per kilogram.
